Happy 1st Birthday!

Posted in Every Damn Post, Fatherhood on May 25th, 2007

Dear Sebastian,

Happy birthday to my little man… The world is your oyster. Grab life by the reigns and make of it what you want. Roll with the punches (things don’t always go as we expect) but know that everything in life is a lesson and there is no such thing as a bad experience. It is a chance to learn.

I love you buddy and look forward to all the joy you bring to myself and your Mother on a daily basis. I can’t wait to see you playing professional baseball someday!!! :-)

Love,
Dad

Today I Will Become An Uncle

It really puts things in perspective doesn’t it? Certain events, certain changes that we experience and learn from. Life altering situations which physically, spiritually & emotionally cause us to evolve in one direction or another.

One year ago, May 25th my first son was born. I can’t even express or fully comprehend the effect he has had on me as a person. It has been epic and 100% positive. Oh, the things I would do to protect that boy at any cost to myself… The innocence of youth, the trust, the absolute purity of infants as they enter ‘our’ world is something which often gets brushed over & taken for granted. Just as most parents, I can only hope to teach him to be a good person, to stand up for what he believes and for those who need help and to leave a positive mark on this earth.

It’s amazing really what we can learn from infants, children & youth. Now when you turn that around and look at what we as a society are teaching them it makes me cringe and wonder ‘what the heck is the matter with us’?

It is now my new wish to do what I can to make this world a better place for my son as well as his soon to be cousin.

Who’s with me???

Falwell Croaks

Posted in Every Damn Post, Hypopcrisy, Idiots, Politics & Politicians, You Suck on May 17th, 2007

I am not a politician or a two faced media talking head. I have nothing to gain by trying to look like a fake nice guy who turns the other cheek. It would be absolutely phoney of me to pretend I feel any type of sadness with the passing of this individual. Or to give him the respect and compassion in death which he denied so many people in life. I just can’t do it.

Though his followers, friends, collegues etc. would have us all believe that privately this man was a nice and upstanding person, that is just a crock of shit. Falwell was an expert, a seasoned pro, an aggressively versed hitman with language. He was truly gifted at using language to attack and hurt people with whom he did not agree with or approve of. In fact it is rare that a person in the public eye has so successfully put his foot in his mouth over and over. Congratulations Jerry. This bully showed no compassion when speaking of people outside his realm of beliefs. Hiding behind a religious cloak he was able to avoid confrontation and criticism from those in the media and those with the pulpit who were/are too spineless to confront truths and evil. Those who fear doing what is right at the cost of losing friends, audiences or money.

Moral Majority? Of all the pompous names someone could pick for an organization. I mean give me a fucking break.

A final thought regarding Falwell. I do hope he gets to meet his maker. This power of which he claimed to speak for. I am sure that God would love to sit down and chat about some of the things Falwell spewed through the years about his children. God’s children.

On The Turning Away

Posted in Every Damn Post, Song Lyrics on May 17th, 2007

On the turning away
From the pale and downtrodden
And the words they say
Which we won’t understand
Don’t accept that what’s happening
Is just a case of other’s suffering
Or you’ll find that you’re joining in
The turning away

It’s a sin that somehow
Light is changing to shadow
And casting it’s shroud
Over all we have known
Unaware how the ranks have grown
Driven on by a heart of stone
We could find that were all alone
In the dream of the proud

On the wings of the night
As the daytime is stirring
Where the speechless unite
In a silent accord
Using words you will find are strange
And mesmerized as they light the flame
Feel the new wind of change
On the wings of the night

No more turning away
From the weak and the weary
No more turning away
From the coldness inside
Just a world that we all must share
It’s not enough just to stand and stare
Is it only a dream that there’ll be
No more turning away?

First off Happy Mother’s Day to my Mother and a special first Mother’s Day to my wife. Two wonderful women who inspire me and teach me many things about being a better man.

This site has been crawling from the start. But a crawl turns to a walk and a walk turns to a run. Fasten your seatbelts and stick around folks. It’s time to shake things up.
